Intimidation? or…
After dealing with Microsoft a couple of times regarding my Xbox 360 warranty, I’ve realized that the warranty sticker is more for show and to scare people from “screwing the system”.
The first time was when I got the so called “Red Ring Of Death”. Even though my Xbox was modded, I’ve been told to call Microsoft since there’s a good chance they will repair it; so they did. The so called warranty sticker was completely removed before it left my house. This gave me the suspicion that Microsoft would rather have you use a modded Xbox rather then a console from a different manufacturer; same deal as with Windows in my opinion.
After I received the Xbox, I took the sticker off again to modify the dvd drive. Unfortunately I messed up and my console took it’s last breath before becoming a nice looking black with chrome accent paper weigh. After calling Microsoft and have it sent out and repaired again, my suspicion was confirmed.
So, for anyone that is thinking of modding their Xbox and is afraid they will lose their warranty, Microsoft will repair your box if it has the sticker intact or no sticker at all. I’m not condoning piracy but I am supporting the thought that if you pay for an object, you should have the right to do/modify whatever you wish to it
